China has maintained that it was a simple weather surveillance balloon veered off course but the event has remained in the public eye. Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, visited Seton Hall University on February 1st. In the Catholic Church, an Apostolic Nuncio is an ambassador for the Pope that serves the Holy See as a sort of diplomat. Archbishop Pierre has previously served as the apostolic nuncio to Mexico, Uganda, and Haiti before being appointed the position of apostolic nuncio to the United States in 2016. Today we will cover and unpack the World Leaders Forum in a special episode. The Global Current takes a deep dive into these issues with analysts Juliana Mori and Trisha Baillon.

Global Current Executive Director, Jasmine De Leon, interviews Bunmi Akinnusotu, the Deputy Director of the Rangel Fellowship at Howard University, about her illustrious career in foreign policy and her advice for young professionals.
Ms. Akinnusotu was the a Special Assistant at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Chief of Staff at Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, and has worked in multiple roles in the field of international relations. She is also launched "What In The World?" a successful podcast that "makes global issues understandable and relevant to ordinary American people." Ambassador Csaba Kőrösi, the president of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, visited Seton Hall University on Janurary 26th, 2023. As the presiding officer of the UN’s main policymaking forum, Kőrösi continues the assembly’s work promoting global recovery from the pandemic, addressing climate change and striving to meet the 17 U.N. development goals for 2030. There have been at least 48 deaths in Peru since early December when protests broke out when the Peruvian Congress removed President Pedro Castillo on Dec. 7. Castillo was arrested and is being held in pre-trial detention, facing rebellion charges after he tried to illegally dissolve the legislature to avoid a planned impeachment vote. Clashes with security forces have led to the worst outbreak of violence within the nation in the past 20 years. Global Current Executive Director, Jasmine De Leon, interviews Dr. Glodel Mezilas about Global South and the Russia-Ukrainian War. Dr. Mezilas, a professor and adjunct director of the Diplomatic School of the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has served in the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authored nine books about the country. De Leon and Dr. Mezilas explore Global South perspectives of the war, the role of international law in the conflict, and more generally, what a Global South viewpoint offers when we try to understand geopolitics.
