Aviva Rosenthal is the Director of the Office of International Relations at the Smithsonian Institution, where she oversees the successful implementation of the Institution's extensive variety of programs, projects, and research. As Director, she also continues to help develop and sustain strategic partnerships. She has had a career with over 25 years of experience in various sectors, and has been a part of the Smithsonian Institution since 2013.

Phil Gurski is the president and CEO of Borealis Threat and Risk Consulting Limited, and hosts his own podcast and YouTube channel where he discusses counter-terrorism and intelligence. Gurski has extensive experience with counter-terrorism and government intelligence in Canada as an analyst for the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Gurski has written six books concerning terrorism and his most recent book, “The Peaceable Kingdom: A History of Terrorism in Canada From Confederation To The Present” is out now.

When former Facebook engineer Frances Haugen broke ranks and leaked a trove of internal company documents, the embattled social media giant found itself yet again in hot water and the public's disgrace. The documents reveal, among other things, awareness among Facebook leadership that its platform negatively impacts the mental health of some of its youngest users while being used to host hate speech and spread misinformation. Sit down with Global Current for its inaugural expert interview conducted by Jackie Ballard.
Sean Mayberry is a former diplomat and social marketer who believes that treating depression in women in Africa is the most simple and cost-effective way to address systemic poverty. Sean implemented successful HIV/AIDS and malaria programs in Africa for years and saw firsthand how undetected, untreated depression negatively affected people’s lives. As a result, in 2013, Sean founded StrongMinds, a social enterprise with the mission of improving the mental health of women in Africa.
