Reaching the Summit: Biden Recommits U.S. to Climate Action
Sunday May 09, 2021
Sunday May 09, 2021
U.S. President Joe Biden, in a summit of 40 nations, broke from his predecessor and affirmed the nation's commitment to combatting climate change. The summit was one of the first major American effort to address global climate change since the president took office, and many welcomed it as a first step toward further U.S. engagement. The Biden administration had previously re-joined the Paris Climate Accord and laid out domestic policies to curb emissions.
Join the Global Current today as we discuss the summit and its implications for wider climate policy with Analysts Cash Kinsey and Kristen McGuire. Beforehand, News Briefer Drew Starbuck recaps some of the most pressing stories from around the world this week.
